Why new and expecting moms seek therapy

You can love your baby deeply and still feel lost. Whether you’re pregnant, in the fourth trimester, or a few years in, therapy makes room for all of it.

You feel anxious, overwhelmed, or numb, and you can’t pinpoint why.

You’re pregnant or postpartum and something doesn’t feel right, even if people say it’s normal.

Becoming a mom has changed everything, and you miss who you were.

You keep putting everyone else first and feel resentful or exhausted.

You’re grieving a loss, a hard birth, or the way you pictured this season going.

How therapy helps

What we work on together

Name what you’re feeling

Postpartum depression and anxiety can be hard to recognize from the inside. We sort out what’s happening so it feels less frightening and you feel less alone.

Quiet intrusive thoughts

Using CBT, we learn why scary thoughts show up and how to let them pass without fear or shame.

Process your birth story

If birth didn’t go the way you hoped, we make room to grieve it and tell the story in your own words.

Make room for the identity shift

Motherhood changes who you are. Through narrative work, we weave the old and new parts of you into one story.

Ease the mom guilt

We loosen the grip of “should” and reconnect with the kind of mom you actually want to be.

Reconnect with your partner

We look at how roles and expectations have shifted, and find ways back toward each other.

Common questions

Pregnancy & postpartum therapy, answered

What training do you have in maternal mental health?

I’ve had maternal mental health training through Postpartum Support International (PSI), the leading organization for perinatal mental health care.

Is what I’m feeling normal?

Up to 1 in 5 women experience a perinatal mood or anxiety disorder. It’s common, it isn’t your fault, and it’s treatable with the right help.

Can I start therapy while I’m pregnant?

Yes. Perinatal care covers pregnancy through the first year after birth, and starting early can make the transition easier.

Do I need a diagnosis to come to therapy?

No. Many moms come simply because motherhood feels harder or lonelier than they expected.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Sessions are available in person at my Dallas office on Greenville Ave, or by secure telehealth anywhere in Texas, so you can meet from home with your baby nearby.

What if I’m in crisis?

Therapy isn’t an emergency service. If you’re having thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, call or text 988, or the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-852-6262.
